why we still stop

One of the questions we get asked the most is, "Where do you find all of this?"

Honestly...most of the time we don't.

We stumble into it.

We'll be driving somewhere completely unrelated, spot an old building, a hand-painted sign, or a yard that looks like it hasn't changed in thirty years, and suddenly our plans for the day are gone.

We've learned that the best finds rarely come from searching for something specific.

They come from being curious enough to stop.

Sometimes stopping means finding an old general store counter.

Sometimes it's a conversation with someone who tells us about a warehouse no one has opened in decades.

Sometimes we leave empty-handed.

And sometimes one decision changes the direction of everything.

The funny thing is, most people drive past those places every day.

We probably used to, too.

Now we've started paying attention.

Because after enough weekends spent wandering back roads, you realize old buildings have a way of introducing themselves if you're willing to slow down.

That's probably our favorite part of all of this.

Not the things we bring home.

Just never knowing what might be waiting around the next corner.
